"Lucien LaCroix, my name is Tess and I'm an angel sent by God to tell you that though your friend has left you, you will never be alone. God loves you and...." LaCroix's eyes narrowed and his upper lip curled as he deftly seized in one hand the dove Monica had left behind when she slipped through the window with Andrew, Nicholas, and Natalie. It occurred to Tess that this was going to be one devil of an assignment. Continuing to stare at her with his eerie, yellow gaze, LaCroix defiantly sank a fang into the bird's neck, drained it in a single draught, and let its body drop to the floor with a soft thud and rustle of feathers. Tess raised her eyebrows. "I thought that only the most straightened of circumstances would induce you to drink non-human blood." "On occasion I indulge in the odd theatrical gesture." He shrugged and continued to sneer. Tess smiled smugly. "Well, I hope you realize that your latest theatrical gesture has just filled you with the Holy Spirit." A look of sheer, unmitigated horror momentarily passed over LaCroix's face. Then, for the first time in centuries his features softened. His eyes turned a celestial blue, the fangs receded forever, and his face was suffused with a saintly glow. Tess chuckled. This was an easy job, after all. When you fly through the night, Eyes glowin' with an eerie light, (2nd verse: your ancient burden never light) I will rise and I will fly with you! When the sun don't even shine! I will fly with you every time Believe me, I'll fly with you!
