I apologize if anyone else has done a similar idea-- I haven't read too much fanfic. Any comments, etc. can be sent to me at mlane@mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu. Without further ado, here's the disclaimer and the story: All characters appearing in this story are the creation and property of Sony/Tristar, James Parriott,Barney Cohen, etc. Except the little bloodsucker-- he's mine. ;) A Bloodsucker, A Whining Pest, and LaCroix (you figure out which is which) The room was occupied by two bloodsuckers and one mortal, slightly wilted. Actually, the total was three bloodsuckers, but the other two were oblivious to the sound of buzzing above their heads, absorbed as they were in their bickering over suicide, faith, (peaches?), and the like. The small mosquito paused for a moment on the wall, resting from the recent nighttime journey that brought it to this scene. Rubbing its legs in anticipation, the mosquito inspected the inhabitants of the room, weighing the likely juiciness of each one as it prepared itself for its next victim. The familiar smell of blood was thick in the air, particularly around the pale lifeless figure lying on the floor, but it appeared that she had already served as someone's dinner. Perhaps the angsty blond one would be a better choice, oblivious to the bite as he would likely be. The mosquito drank deep of the vampire vintage, intrigued by the sweet taste of female still lingering in his victim's bloodstream. After a brief pause on his pale skin, the mosquito took to flight, its interest aroused by the mortal lying on the floor. Perhaps there was still a drop or two left in her deliciously promising veins. "Good taste in food, this one has," thought the mosquito of the angsty one. A delighted shiver ran through the insect's wings as it sank in and found that indeed, the well was not completely dry. So delighted was it, in fact, that it lingered a little longer than was necessary, forgetting the rules of manner that prohibit backwash. "Ehh, this one's too far gone to notice the mixing of my previous meal's blood with hers," the mosquito thought, shrugging as best a long-legged bloodsucking pest can, and took off for parts unknown. Moments later, a pair of newly golden eyes opened, and the newest addition to the de Brabant family sprang across the room, causing a wooden stake to pause in its trip toward their common destination. "What, Nat? Aah!" cried Nick as her fangs found his neck, and he bit her back in an immortal embrace. The End (and a more satisfactory one at that) * * * * * Well, that was fun, eh? So long, Maria Lane, mlane@mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu Devoted Follower of LaCroix, Janette, Vachon...oh heck-- all of them! P.S. Question-- Is the mosquito now a member of the de Brabant family as well?
