This is sort of a retooling of a brief scene that I wrote last
Christmas.  I hope you enjoy it.  Merry Christmas, everyone.

A Christmas Dream (1/1)

  Lacroix with carving knife in hand, paused before he began slicing
  the turkey and yelled, "Divia, turn off the TV and come to dinner."

  Divia sighed and moved to obey her father.  She would have to watch
  one of the other broadcasts of "It's a Wonderful Life" later on.
  Without further protest, she quietly joined her family around the
  dining room table.

  Jeanette carried a bowl of cranberries from the kitchen, put them
  amid the many other holiday foods on the heavily laden table, and
  sat down herself.

  Nick beamed as he looked from the smiling face of one family member
  to another -- all sitting around the Christmas dinner and thought,
  'It's *especially* wonderful to be with my family at Christmas time.'


Nick awoke from his dream with a start.  He sat up on the couch and
quickly looked at his dining table as if he expected to see his
vampiric family sitting there enjoying a holiday dinner.  He shook
his head, then reached for the phone as it rang.

"Hello, .... sure Nat," he said.  He listened for a moment more, then
on second thought added, "Uhh, let yourself in, I may be a little late
getting home after my shift.  I have a couple of stops to make first."

"No it's OK.  "'A Wonderful Life' sounds like a great choice tonight."
He glanced at the wrapped packages neatly stacked on the coffee table,
"I just have to drop off a couple of presents first."  "See'ya later."
