In an attempt to rectify the blatantly humanocentric 
attitudes of these lists, I present the following:

"Nicholassss!" LaCroix hissed, tail lashing wildly.  "You 
will not disobey me!"

Contemptuously, Nick groomed the long fur on his shoulder.  
"I am not your plaything," he retorted.

"Did someone say plaything?" Urs said brightly, and batted 
a small crocheted mouse across the floor.

Dismissively, Janette turned her back on the situation.  
"Toms," she murmured under her breath, returning her 
attention to her crystal bowl of blood.

The tabby in the corner watched the confrontation 
apprehensively.  At times like this, Nick seemed so... so 
feral... She was used to the Nick who chased shadows with 
her and brought her catnip, not the vampcat that lurked 
behind the facade of felinity.

Another tomcat butted his head into her side.  "C'mon, Nat, 
let's get outta here," he urged nervously.  "Myra said if 
she ever caught me at the Raven again, she'd have me 
neutered."

Defiantly, Nick stared at LaCroix with eyes that shimmered 
ever so faintly gold.  "I will find a cure," he growled.  
"I will become a cat again!"

"For what?  So you can sit on a human's lap and purr?"  
LaCroix's meow dripped disdain.  "Or frolic with the 
squirrels in the light of day?  Such foolish dreams."  His 
eyes narrowed.  "You cannot deny your nature."

Nick seemed ready to reply; but all at once there was a 
flash of swift-moving fur as Vachon dashed into the room, 
wide-eyed with fear.  "It's happened!" he burst out, in an 
anguished yowl.  "Our worst nightmare!"

"Calm yourself, child," LaCroix demanded.  "What is the 
danger?"

Very faintly, in the distance, came a heavy, thudding, 
thundering sound, of paws scrabbling closer...

"He's back in town!" Vachon screeched.

"Who is?" Nick meowed urgently.

The disheveled cat paused a moment to catch his breath.  
"Perry," he gasped.

And then it echoed through the Raven:  "Wooooooooof....."
