Date: Fri, 1 Jan 1999 15:52:16 -0800 From: Miranda LaCroix Subject: Goodbye Nicholas (01/01) To: FKFIC-L@LISTS.PSU.EDU Disclaimers: Forever Knight and its characters are owned by Columbia, Tristar, Sony Permission to archive at www.fkfanfic.com Goodbye is sung by the Spice Girls, distributed by Virgin Records Anything between ~~ is the song. Last Knight, last scene, I think this song is the most appropriate. I can actually imagine LaCroix singing the song in Baritone. Good bye Mes Amis (01/01) ~~ No no no no, no no no no, no no no no, ~~ LaCroix looked at Nicholas with tear-filled eyes as he knelt down by his Natalie. The long wooden stake in his hand was a smooth one. A smooth one that he was to slam into Nicholas' heart, his beloved son... ~~ Listen little child, there will come a day When you will be able, able to say Never mind the pain, or the aggravation You know there's a better way, for you and me to be ~~ "Nicholas, do think about your choices before you make me do this. Your beloved Natalie, you have drank her blood, you now know every secret about her as she knows yours. The first time you did this to your beloved Alyssa you lost against time. Try for Natalie at least." "She is gone!!!!" he yelled back. "Trust me, Nicholas." Nicholas cut his wrist and dripped his blood into Natalie's mouth. ~~ Look for a rainbow in every storm Fly like an angel, heaven sent to me ~~ "Natalie? Nat? Come back to me!!!" Nick cried out, tears dripping down his face. ~~ Goodbye my friend (I know you're gone, you said you're gone, but I can still feel you here) It's not the end (gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear) ~~ "You must choose, Natalie Lambert, to go beyond, or to stay here in purgatory." Natalie stepped closer to the bright portal, and then she heard a voice. The voice of her immortal lover echoed, and became louder and louder. "Natalie.. come back...." Nick whispered in the wind. ~~ So glad we made it, time will never change it - no no no No no no no ~~ "Nick? Be with me!! Forever!!!" Natalie cried out. "Come back Natalie.. come back to me!" Nick yelled. ~~ Just a little girl, big imagination Never letting no-one take it away ~~ "You must choose..." spoke the guide at the portal. "I don't know. What can you offer me?" she asked. "Mortality," the figured whispered back. ~~ Went into the world, what a revelation She found there's a better way for you and me to be ~~ Natalie woke up drinking from Nick's wrist, Nick beamed as Natalie slowly sat up, continuing to have her first taste of vampire blood. The sweet sensation tingled on her tongue. ~~ Look for a rainbow in every storm Find out for certain, love's gonna be there for you You'll always be someone's baby ~~ Nick gently felt her cheek, then kissed her on the lips. "Oh Nat..." Nick whispered. ~~ Goodbye my friend (I know you're gone, you said you're gone, but I can still feel you here) It's not the end (gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear) ~~ LaCroix turned around away from Natalie and Nick, then stared at the figure at the door. Janette stood there uneasily waiting. LaCroix's first beloved had returned to him. "Janette?" "Hello LaCroix," she greeted. She gave him a slight nod and he understood her. LaCroix began heading for the door to join her. "Goodbye Nicholas..." he whispered. ~~ So glad we made it, time will never change it No no no no You know it's time to say goodbye No no no no ~~ "LaCroix?" Nicholas asked. "It's time for you to go and explore on your own," LaCroix sighed. "A true beloved at your side." ~~ (bridge) The times when we would play about The way we used to scream and shout We never dreamt you'd go your own sweet way ~~ And then, more memories flooded back. Memories that were beyond the ones LaCroix helped him recover just a few weeks ago, memories about their fights. **Flashback** "I hate you!" Nicholas yelled, kneeling by the dead ballerina. "Good.. Hate is a step in the right direction..." LaCroix stated. **End Flashback** ~~ Look for a rainbow in every storm Find out for certain love's gonna be there for you You'll always be someone's baby ~~ Nick stared at his master joining with his first immortal beloved. Natalie got up with Nick, and the two walked up to the other two. "We're going with you," Nicholas stated. ~~ Goodbye my friend (I know your gone, you said you're gone, but I can still feel you here) It's not the end (you gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear) ~~ LaCroix looked at his son with a surprised look. "A change of heart, Nicholas?" he asked curiously. "No, there are still lessons to learn. Our friendship shall never end." ~~ So glad we made it time will never never ever change it No no no no you know it's time to say goodbye No no no no and don't forget you can rely ~~ LaCroix shook his head. "It's time to leave you Nicholas, for you to explore your own way." "What?" Nicholas asked in shock. ~~ No no no no you know it's time to say goodbye No no no no and don't forget on me you can rely ~~ "He's right Nichola. It's time for you to explore," Janette confirmed. "You were only with us to learn. You have learned enough..." "What about Janette?" "She is my immortal beloved, Nicholas. We are lovers." ~~ No no no no I will help, help you on your way ~~ Natalie nodded understanding the full picture. "Will you help us?" Natalie asked. "Of course," LaCroix replied. "Family bonds can never be broken." "Nor relationships," Janette added. ~~ No no no no I will be with you every day ~~ "I will be wherever you are Nicholas, and every day, I will be following you, but we must not be traveling together anymore. It's time for you to become who you are," LaCroix told him. "Nichola, it's time for you to explore on your own, bring across who you cherish as family." Nicholas nodded and took Natalie's hand. "See you in a few hundred years." Janette nodded. "Goodbye Nichola. Enjoy eternity." Nick with Natalie flew off. Janette looked at LaCroix. "There is more teaching to be done," she smiled. "I agree. Shall we?" he asked, offering his hand. "Yes, let's." She smiled, taking his hand. The two flew off into the night. Miranda fleurdebrabant@cybergal.com
