"Last Knight" "Damn you," LaCriox yells. "This mere mortal is *not* worth..." LaCriox stops and his eyes move directly to Natale's face. Nick follows his gaze. Natalies eyes blink and she moans softly. "Nat.," Nick says with amazment and disbelief in his voice. Natalie weakly sits up and looks around with amazement then focuses in on Nick and gives him a hug and, that's when she notices LaCroix and gets an uneasy feeling and both Nick and LaCroix sence it. Then Nick tells Natalie to wait for a minute then he goes over to talk to LaCroix. "I thought you siad she was on the brink," Nick yells trying to stay below a whisper. "One can be wrong," LaCroix says in a reasuring tone. And then there's a long period of silence. until Natale breaks it saying "Nick," in a desprate tone. And Nick rushes to be right by her side. "What Nat.," he says in a sweet and gental voice, dispite his anger at LaCroix. She looks at him as if memerizing his face. "I dunno, I just want to be near you," She says with her hand on the side of his face. And after another long period of silence LaCoix say's "And now I sahll take my leave," and Nick turns to face him. Then as if reading Nicks mind LaCroix says "No, I will not leave the city." and as Nick looks at him LaCriox trys to think of a good expanation but wynds up saying "This city has some potential." Nick looks at Natalie and then smiles at LaCriox and in that very moment LaCiox knows that he has Nick back as a sun, a pupil, a friend, and now after all the years a confedont. comments, questions, and constuctive critasime welcome Kelley Bleyle papaya@ix.netcom.com
