After several tearful weeks, the two of us have finally been able to pull ourselves together to contribute to the fan efforts to re-write Last Knight. Drawing on the traditions of Shakespeare, Yeats, and Homer, we chose to put our heart-felt view of this episode in verse. We hope you enjoy this tale of love, loss, and a search for redemption gone horribly wrong. Last Verses: poetry to lighten an aching heart, by Q & A The hunger that Knight used to quench, With the taste of a full-bodied wench, He filled now with cow (Which he swallowed somehow) Or ketchup-dipped fries that are french! And he tried protein shakes that were bad, To regain the true life he once had. The M.E. helped him out, For she hadn't a doubt, She'd succeed in redeeming her lad. And yet time, it refused to stand still. And Nick longed for the thrill of the kill. He wouldn't touch Nat Beyond a fond pat -- Which made her decidedly ill. The forensic pathologist said, "My good friend was just found, and she's dead. She told me, 'Get a life, Or just end all the strife.' So I say, my dear Nick...off to bed!" Our blonde vampire said to his dear, "I kill when I kiss, so I fear Eternal damnation or worse, cancellation and watching Silk Stalkings all year." Though Nick feared the dark vampire touch, He took Nat in a desperate clutch On her wrist gave a peck, Sunk his teeth in her neck, But of course our dear Nick took too much! LaCroix said to his son, "My dear Nick, There are times you can be such a brick! Let Nat die - it's no loss, Or bring her across, Or I'll give you a whack with this stick!" And so friends here's the twist to the tale: Is he mortal or did Nicky fail? Did Nat 'come across'? Is Nick her new boss? Has she joined the eternally pale? -- Comments, expressions of horror and dismay, and discount coupons for straight jackets to: Quinn (ocaoin@earthlink.net) or Allie (percy91@wharton.upenn.edu)
