Home to most Chinese citizens, it's a quaint little section of Vancouver which is developing. Stanley Park is right by Downtown Vancouver. You go through Stanley Park to reach the Lions Gate Bridge, which leads to North Vancouver, Capilano, and Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Stanley Park has been said to be home for many homeless people. You might get a glimpse of it in the Sliders/X-Files episodes. It is densely forested, and roads run around it. The Vancouver Aquarium is in Stanley Park. Harbour centre is in Downtown Vancouver. It is the Vancouver equivalent of the CN Tower and the Space Needle in Seattle. However, it's more of a building than a tower. I have written 3 different versions of this story, and this was the version which passed. I'm still writing though, because the events of today have fit in even more. There's a lot of me in this, but there's also a lot of opposite me in this. I've written everything as a thought pops into my head...so I guess it's all made up :) Well, 'cept the characters. A Meal For One Is Hope For Another (01/01) The cool night air in the darkness of the night was the reason for her cold. The stars shined and twinkled in the darkness, as the wind blew through her windows making the curtains move. In the middle of the night, she opened the window of her room wide open and loosened the bug screen with a screwdriver. She tied up all her clothes to make a rope and tied it down. Kissing her big Pochacco doll for one last time, and grabbing the small version, she slinged the backpack over her shoulder and climbed out of her window. She ran around the corner to the convenience store, and stood by the road, waiting for the night bus. She had changed buses many times and got to Stanley Park, the green luscious trees of the day now stood cold and demanding at night. She ran deep inside. Finding a small cave, she smiled, her first night away from civilization. She had remembered what her boyfriend had said, that he could take care of her, but she refused his offer. Alone, on the outside was how she felt. LaCroix, Nicholas and Janette walked through Stanley Park. "LaCroix, what are we doing out here?" "There are people living in this park. The perfect prey. We're just helping the disappeared, disappear!" They came up to Miranda's little cave. She laid there, practically freezing, but she slept, with barely enough heat. LaCroix bent down slowly and brushed her soft brown hair aside...his fangs bared, he looked in delight. "LaCroix! No!" Nicholas warned. "Nicholas.....why do you object?" "She's an innocent little girl, probably running away from home. You just can't take her life!" Her fist smashed into LaCroix's face and she rolled away. She ran deeper inside, terribly afraid. "And so the hunt has begun, Nicholas....time to catch the prey!!!" He ran off after her. Running through bushes quickly, careful to not trip over rocks she thought to herself. ~~All I wanted was to get away, and now I am being chased...this sux sooo bad~~ And then, that big rock, tripped her. She fell to the ground with a big wham, and the entire front part of her body hurt. Her ankle was badly twisted. LaCroix stood behind her, staring with a mouth dropped open. She turned over on to her back and looked at him and the stars. "Get away from me!!" she yelled. "No." She threw a bunch of dirt in his face and suprisingly was able to stand up, she ran off deeper. And then she was trapped, civilization stood before her, police lights, sirens, shining, someone had found her note, at this time of night. But behind her stood some strange person running after her. She decided to run back into the forest, death seeming the only way to go. Smashing into LaCroix she almost screamed but he covered her mouth. She nodded and he put his hand down. The sirens were sounding and flashlights as well as people go closer. LaCroix saw her panic in front of him, she didn't want this to happen, she didn't want to go back. With one quick decision, he took hold of her and flew off. Landing back at her small cave, he saw Nicholas and Janette gone, obviously continuing the hunt. He held her head up with one hand. "Why are you here?" "I'm running away, what the hell do you think? What the hell was that? Was that flying?" He nodded. "Yes, that was flying." She kept her guard up. "Can't you just leave me alone?" "No. Are you running away?" She nodded. "Yeah....I hate my home. I hate my life...." His eyes began to spark up when he heard life, almost forgetting what he was here for in the first place. "We haven't much time." "For?" He gently caressed her cheek. "You must give your life to me...." "You mean die? What do you have? A dagger that can end this? Please, please, do it!!!" Without any hesitation, no choices to be made. LaCroix's hunger empowered him. He vamped out in a flash, and sunk his fangs into her neck. She refused to scream, she could not scream, the pain, the suction made her cry out inside, the pain was too horrendous to describe. She succumbed to his power, and slowly died in his arms as he drank greedily her blood into her lips. Nicholas and Janette came back to see. "LaCroix!!!" Nicholas yelled. LaCroix ignored him, continuing to drink, he stopped, leaving her candle of life burning, she fell forward into his arms. And he held her close, realizing she was a younger, feminine version of him. All those memories, all those words, all the knowledge, interests, hobbies, love...she was almost like him...like his daughter..... He quickly sunk his fangs into his wrist and began dripping the blood into her mouth. She grabbed it and drank quickly, tasting the sweet liquid on her lips, unable to resist the urge. Like a pleasure drug....like the sweetest wine and fruit, she drank till he pulled away and looked into her green eyes. She licked her lips, vampire fangs showing, staring deep into his eyes. "LaCroix, we have to leave, those policemen are coming!!" LaCroix took her and flew off as Janette and Nicholas followed. The two stood a top Harbour Centre, he held her in his arms, as the wind rushed past them. They stood looking at the soft rippling water. "I don't think we have truly introduced ourselves," LaCroix noted. "No.....my name's Lydia, and you?" "Lucien." She laughed. "Both starting with L, were we destined?" He chuckled. "I guess...." In the darkness of the night, they went off, for the beginning of their journey has begun. They were to be together, through the ends of time. Love and hope...never...has its boundaries..... --
