This is my answer to the Christmas Challenge, it's a quicky, cause my pc's been down for awhile, so I hope you all enjoy it!!!! Merry Christmas Daddy.. (01/01) "Father..." Divia whispers, lying on the floor. "Divia..." LaCroix whispers moving close to her. "No.." Nick whispers to LaCroix, holding him back. "Don't let me die.." she whispers. "Divia..." LaCroix whispers again, moving closer. "No!" Nick yells. "Father...." Divia whispers. She dies on the floor. A tear left LaCroix's eye as he stared at the fire place. Divia's pendant was in his hand as he remembered her death. How his son held him back. The hatred that burned inside Lucien LaCroix was a hatred for him self. The pain of losing his first and true daughter. How he longed to be reunited with her. The dreams he had of them being reunited, disappeared like wisps of smoke when he woke up. The hard reality that his daughter was dead hit him like a stake in his heart. The days of the Roman Empire flashed in his mind every time he remembered her. It was always the same day that he would go through his ritual. Christmas Eve. A remembrance for his precious daughter and her warm smile. The smile of evil no doubt. But that didn't matter, her smile was all he needed. The smile which came from his genes.. He felt a warm fuzzy feeling when he remembered Divia. This relationship, this unique and loving relationship touched his heart in so many ways he could've never imagined. Divia was somewhat a mistake to him, he had not intended a daughter to be born, or did he? The nights he spent with his dear Selene were nights of joy and happiness. Rebirth of the soul after long hard battles. But after he had his victory in Gaul, his realities of facing his Selene were tough. He had not meant to have her bear his children. The relationship they had was a pure one of greediness and fun. Whatever the case may be, his darling Divia was born to him, bearing the smile of a sweet child of her father.... LaCroix sighed and took a sip of his blood wine then stared at the fire again. He did not notice the door to his room opening, nor did he sense his second daughter stepping in. "Good evening LaCroix...." Janette greeted. He continued staring at the fire, lost in his own thoughts. "Good evening Janette." "It is Christmas Eve LaCroix, yet you seem very preoccupied. You've been like this for the past 2 years, would you like to share your feelings?" "You were in Montreal, Janette, you would've never known...." "But this is a new time, a new place, this is Vancouver.... it is alright to share the past in our new lives." He looked at her and stared into her worried eyes. "Janette, I'm thinking of Divia." "Divia?" "Divia was my first daughter." "Ahh.. your first bringing across." "No... She was my first daughter, my first mortal daughter." "And now she is dead, by her own mortality, yet you still live on.." "No Janette. She was my first mortal daughter. Who was brought across one night by an unknown healer. I was away fighting in Gaul at the time, but she remained in Pompeii with her mother. She became a vampire. I returned to Pompeii, only to have the volcano Vesuvius erupt that very night I returned. My daughter, Divia, brought me across to save me.. To lift me from the ashes of Pompeii." "And now you have survived, remembering her true gift to her father..." "When you were in Montreal, Nicholas and I killed Divia in the Raven, when she tried to kill both of us... Nicholas held me back from saving her. I guess it was for the best. The venom of evil was in her body..." Janette reached out and put her hand over LaCroix's hand. "Evil is a thought of the mind. What you did for Divia was right. If you think she was to die, then let her... She would've found peace." A blood tear left LaCroix's eye and he wiped it off with a finger. He turned back to staring at the fire, remembering. "Thank you Janette." "Anytime, LaCroix." She stood up and left the room, closing the door quietly behind her. LaCroix went out to the main room to the Christmas tree where all the presents lay. The bell of midnight rang through the rooms of the Raven as he smiled. Christmas Day was here, and he was happy now. He went up to the tree and lifted one particular present. Wrapped in red and green, tied with a beautiful white laced ribbon. He read the tag and smiled. "To Lucius, from your Divia." He opened the present with a smile, and opened the small box, and lifted out a bottle of blood wine, out of that small box. Then he had a weird feeling and turned around to face Janette and Nicholas, standing there, smiling. And a little down from their shoulders, there was Divia standing. "Merry Christmas Daddy, and a Happy New Year," she said. "The mortals are now sleeping in their warm beds. Time to feed, time to have a Merry Christmas..." She jumped into his arms, and the two hugged each other smiling. Janette, and Nicholas joined them, and there was a lotsa lotsa hugging!!
