ONE DARK SUMMER NIGHT It was a dark summer's night, quite & peaceful. Nick had just woke up and had decided to go for a walk before having to go to work. Has Nick was walking he could hear something coming from the park, something wasn't right, suddenly Nick hears a woman screaming for help. Nick flies to her rescue and finds her on the grass semiconscious and beaten, he sees no one else around. Nick can see that this young woman is scared and nervous but he also sees that she is not frighten of him, she seems to know that he wants to help her. Unconscious Nick takes the woman to the hospital. "Somebody help me, I have a woman who has been beaten! She's unconscious." The hospital staff takes the woman to the emergency room and starts working on her, Nick can't stop feeling something for her but he doesn't know why, there is something about that girl about the way she looked at him that made him care about her more than he had ever been with anyone and he can't understand why. As Nick is trying to understand what is happening to him you can hear a woman screaming. "No! No! Don't" Nick comes in the emergency room and sees that the woman is frighten to death, she doesn't want anyone to come near her, as she sees Nick she starts to calm down and Nick realizes that and starts moving toward her, telling her that everything will be fine that he will stay with her if she wants him too. Nick is next to the young woman and sees that she's in pain and needs medical attention right away. "You have to let them help you, you need medical care, you have been beaten, I will stay with you if you want me too, but you've got to let them do their job, they won't hurt you" As Nick is talking he's getting closer and closer to the young woman, the woman doesn't seem to mind as a matter of fact she seems to calm down. Nick helps the woman up so she can lie down on the bed so that the doctor can look at her wounds, she is holding Nick's hand really tight, she doesn't want Nick to leave. "Don't go! please!" "Doctor can I stay with her while you examine her." "You can stay for a while" As she hears that you can see that she's starting to relax more, she can't understand herself why she feels so safe with Nick, the only think she knows is that she needs Nick right now. "Can you tell me your name? Where do you live?" As the doctor ask her these question you can see that she is beginning to tense up, she's got a worried look on her face. "It's ok, you can tell me who you are, I want to help you." "I don't know, I can't remember, I can't remember. What is happening to me. Who am I?" Nick and the doctor saw that the woman was starting to panic and the doctor ordered the nurse to give her a sedative to calm her down. "No I'm not staying her, you can't make me, I won't!" The woman started to walk out but almost fainted, Nick caught her in time. "Please don't make me stay here, I can't stay here, please help me" Nick could feel how desperate she was, she wasn't going to stay here and she needed to rest. "Everything will be ok, I will take you to my place and you can rest there until you feel better" Nick could see that she was calming down, they both couldn't understand what was happening to them. She didn't even know him and yet she didn't want to be away from him. As for Nick he can't understand why he feels he has to protect her, to care for her. "Good night! how are you doing tonight? You look much better, more rested" "Thank you for letting me stay here even though you don't even know me, heck I don't even know who I am myself" "Don't worry, in time it will all come back to you and until then you can stay here for as long as you need too. I have to go to work, do you think you will be ok alone here?" "Yes, I'm still kind of tired, I will probably go back to sleep after you are gone, you don't have to worry about me, I will be fine" Nick starts to search for this woman's identity, but no one is missing that fits her description. Days pass and still Nick hasn't found out who this woman is, but they are getting closer and closer, they are becoming best friends. "We can't continue this way" "I know, I can't stay here, you have been so generous with me and you need your privacy, I will be leaving tomorrow" "That's not what I meant, what I meant is that we need to find you a name. What would you like me to call you? What name do you like?" "I don't know, I never thought about it, what name do you think would fit me? What do you think of Jessie?" "Jessie? yes, you look like a Jessie to me, so Jessie it is. What about your last name?" "Well since you where the one who saved me, would you mind if I used your last name?" "I don't mind at all. So Jessie Knight it is. Nice to meet you Jessie Knight" "Thank you, Thank you for being so nice to me, for helping me" Months have pass and Jessie is still living at Nick's. They have become accustomed to one another, they are best friends. Nick & Jessie have stopped looking for who she is, she's moving on with her life. She doesn't care about her old life, she's too happy in her new one. Nick is falling in love with Jessie but he will not let his feelings show, he cannot fall in love with her. This cannot happened. Nick gets a telephone call at work, it's Jessie. Nick comes home to find a shaken Jessie. She is crying. "What happened?" "I went to get some food at the store and some guy grabbed me from behind and pushed me in the alley. I thought he was going to kill me, but then he started talking dirty and saying that he was going to show me what a real man he is" "Did he rape you? Did he hurt you? I'm gonna kill the bastard" "No, I got away, but I'm really frighten, I thought that he was going to... I don't know how I did it but I got away and came back home. I wanted to call you but I couldn't move and then I started to..." "What?" "Nothing, I'm just glad you're back" Nick could see that she was hiding something else but he didn't know what and she wasn't ready to tell him. Nick decided that it wasn't wise to push her into saying what she wasn't ready to say. A few weeks have pass and Jessie is different, more distant, Nick is worried and tries to show her that he cares about her and that anything she would say wouldn't make him feel differently. "Jessie there's something wrong, you don't have to be afraid of what I will think of you, I care about you, I want to help you, please let me help you" "I can't, I want to but I can't" "Please let me help you, you know I care for you and I would do anything to help you" "Nick, I remember who I am, I wish I didn't but I do remember who I am, when that men tried to rape me it all came back to me." "That's wonderful, what is your name? where do you live? I'm so happy for you" "I'm not, I do remember who I am but I also remember something that I wish I would not have remembered, something that I had tried to forget for so long" "What is it, what did you try to forget" "Something happened to me when I was a kid, something that should have never happened, something a kid should never know. All my life I have been frighten of love and people, I always pushed everyone away so I wouldn't get hurt, you love someone and then you get hurt by them. Every time I would have a crush on someone I would make myself fall out of love with that person and it worked. I didn't have any friends, I didn't have anyone to confide in and that was fine with me, I couldn't get hurt that way." Nick realized that this was what he had seen in her eyes that night when he found her, it was the loneliness in her eyes something he was too familiar with. "Nick, I was molested as a kid, he would come and baby-sit me and he would take advantage of me. Ever since that day I have never been able to love or trust anyone until I met you." "I'm so sorry, I wish I would have been able to protect you back then, I want to know his name" "Nick please, I just want to forget about it, I have a new life and I'm beginning to care again, I don't want that life back again. I needed to tell you this so I could go on with my life. I have to put this behind me." "I will do what ever I can to help you through this, you know I care about you and I promise you no one will ever hurt you again" Nick wished she would have told him who the person was so he could kill him slowly and painfully. He had never felt that kind of rage before, but he knew that she needed him and this would only make her feel worst. As Nick lay awake in is bed thinking about Jessie, he heard a scream coming from Jessie's room. "What's wrong?" "No please, don't, Nick please hold me, please hold me, I'm so scared, I can't believed he did this to me, why did he do this to me? I need you so much, please make love to me, show me that it can be beautiful, please Nick, I need to know" Nick saw all the pain in her eyes and couldn't handle it, he knew how much she needed to be loved and how much she needed him. Nick couldn't control his feelings for her. He had longed for her for so long and now she was telling him that she wanted him, that she needed him to make love to her, she was feeling the same way as him. That night they made love and for the first time in her life she knew what making love was, how beautiful it could be. As she woke up she realized that what had happened wasn't a dream, they had made love, she didn't know how to act, she couldn't believed it that she had been with Nick. She started to cry saying that this had been a mistake that it should never have happened. "I can't stay here, not after what we did, I can't believed we did this, I have to go" Nick realized that what had happened was a mistake and that Jessie was getting worst, that last night hadn't helped her. There was only one thing to do, make her forget what had happened last night, it was the only way they could be together. "Jessie, wait. I have to talk to you, look at me. I want you to forget what happened last night, last night never happened" A month as passed, Jessie is not feeling to good, she doesn't have any energy, she's always tired. "Jessie you don't look too good? What's wrong?" "Thank you very much, I'm fine, I'm just a little tired, I've had the flue for a while" "You should go see a doctor, this is not right, promise me you will go see the doctor" "I promise" Just before Nick leaves to go to work he asks Jessie if she went to the doctor. "I'm fine Nick, like I said it's just a stomach flue, I'll be fine in a few days" "Good I was starting to get worried, you don't eat, you are sleeping & sick all the time" "Like I said Nick, I'm fine!" Nick knew that there was something she wasn't telling him but he decided not to push her, she would tell him in time. A week passed and she still hadn't told him what was wrong. Nick decided that it was time to find out. "What's wrong? You haven't been yourself lately" "Nothing's wrong, I'm just fine, please leave me alone. Oh I'm going to be late tomorrow, I have to go some place so don't worry about me" That next day Nick was at work when he saw Jessie coming in to the precinct, she was crying. "What happened?" "I need to talk to you, I need you to help me" "let's go here will have more privacy" "Nick, you know when I told you I had the flue, well I didn't, the doctor told me that... I can't believed this is happening to me, I don't know how it happened, how could this happened to me." "What's wrong, tell me" "The doctor told me that, that I was pregnant, how could I be pregnant, I haven't slept with anyone, how can I get pregnant when I haven't slept with anyone, how? Oh Nick I don't know how this happened, I don't know what to do, Nick what am I suppose to do? Nick what's wrong? Why are you making that face?" You could see Nick's face changing he couldn't believe what he was hearing, Jessie was pregnant" "It's impossible you can't be pregnant? How far along are you?" "The doctor says about 5 weeks" Nick realized that she was pregnant with his child and some how he had gotten Jessie pregnant, but know what was he to do, should he tell Jessie that he is the father, should he make her remember what happened that night? "Nick what are you thinking about? God Nick I can't have this baby, I don't even know who the father is, I can't have a baby when I don't even know who the father is. what am I suppose to tell the baby when he or she grows up, Oh sorry, but I don't remember making love to your father, I don't even know who your father is. Sorry but I can't do this to my child" "Jessie wait, I know how you got pregnant" "What? How could you know how I got pregnant?" "Jessie look at me, I want you to remember the night that we made love, remember" "How could you do this to me? how could you make me forget that we had made love? why did you make me forget? You had no right to do this" "I thought it was best, you where hysterical and you had said that it was a mistake, so I decided that the best thing for you was to forget, I never thought for one second that you would get pregnant, I still don't know how you got pregnant with my baby" "I can't believe that we are going to have a baby, what are we going to do? Do you want that baby? How do you feel about me being pregnant with your child? I'm sure I wasn't your first choice to be the mother of your child. How do you fell about this, please tell me Nick, I want to know, I need to know" "I'm overwhelmed, I can't believed that you are pregnant with my child, I never thought that I would become a father, that I could ever have a son or daughter." "Nick I need to know, do you want this child? Do you want to be a father? Are you ready to love this child? I can't take this decision by myself, we have to decided together." "Of course I want this child, I have waited 800 years to become a father. It's just that I still can't believe it, it's too good to be true" "At least now I know how I got pregnant, you don't know how relieved I am, I thought that I was having some sort of blackouts or something. Nick I just thought of something, will the baby be like you or like me? Oh Nick, have you ever known a vampire who had a baby? Will our baby be ok?" Please let me know what you think of this story, this is my first time at writing and would really love your input so that i could improve this story and make it more believable. I have started to watch forever knight this season and ever since the first episode i wondered how it would be like for nick to become a father and how he would be as a father. I know this is not a masterpiece, it's my first time ever at writing hope it wasn't too boring. wish i had a better imagination though. France
