Date: Tue, 28 May 1996 22:46:31 -0400 From: "Lisa P." Subject: On The Air (Spoilers: AtA) This is a fun story that by no means follows the storyline. There are Ashes to Ashes spoilers. It is my depiction of what happened, and why, in the church that fateful night... All the usual disclaimers of who owns whom. Due to the fact that we can no longer use real-life people s names, I had to change one name...slightly. I am not a writer! This is my first attempt, and probably last depending upon response, at writing a story. So go easy with the flamethrowers! This is the Nightcrawler and tonight we are fortunate to have a very special guest with us. She is a doctor of the heart. Do you feel all alone in the night? Does your lover have trouble differentiating between foreplay and a midnight snack? Then call my children. The doctor is in... Our first caller, go ahead. Umm, I ve got a problem with an over-protective girlfriend. Well, actually, she s not really a girlfriend... Is she or isn t she your girlfriend? Why do you hesitate on calling her yours? The truth is, she s just too perky for me. Every now and then is tolerable, but not every night! Then why do you put up with it? Why not tell her to go on her way? It s kind of complicated. Ya see, some months back I became deathly ill with a...virus. Since then she won t leave me alone. She insists on trying to take care of me. She chatters non-stop. I m beginning to hear her in my sleep. I just can t take it anymore! Death by the Inca would have been more merciful! Uhh, sorry...flashback. What should I do? Lacroix, placing his hand over the microphone, turns to his guest. I know the caller and the girl that he speaks of. I m afraid that nothing in this world will allow him to escape her. His fate is sealed. Perhaps not. Lacroix s eyebrows look at her with skepticism. As you said Lacroix...in this world. The doctor turns back to the microphone. Caller, there may be a way... ------------------------------------------------------ How could Vachon do this to me , Tracy shouted to her empty apartment. How could he leave me? How...Ow! She bent down to rub her knee which impacted with the end of the couch. That s what she gets for trying to think and walk at the same time. She plops herself onto the couch to prevent further injury. Now, what was she doing...oh yeah, thinking. Two weeks. It had been two weeks since Vachon s death. Two weeks and she still couldn t think about anything except Vachon. She had told Vachon her feelings for him after he had recovered from the fever. She was so afraid of losing him again, that she spent every free moment over at his place. One of the things she had loved about Vachon was his ability to listen to her talk for hours, never interrupting but just staring at her with those big, beautiful brown eyes opened wide. Night after night. She even began to visit him during the day. She would sit on the bed next to him and just talk and talk as he slept. Then, her worst nightmare happened. Vachon was dying...again. He had wanted her to kill him, to end his misery. How could he ask her to do this? Who would be there to listen to her? She had been holding the stake in her hand when she turned around to tell him she couldn t do it. That was when he lunged himself at her and onto the stake. As he laid dying in her arms, he had asked her to wish him luck. He had been smiling, as if he was welcoming death. Tracy shook her head, making herself dizzy in the process, trying to bring her mind back to the present. It was a short trip. Tracy looked around her empty apartment. She was all alone. No one to talk to. Every time she went to see Natalie at the morgue a burn victim would be rolled in. She never realized how many people died that way, certainly seemed like an increase lately. And they all looked the same. And forget her partner, he would just start mumbling about getting his dad to do him a favor or something when she tried to talk to him. Strange, she thought he didn t have any family. She didn t want to continue like this, without Vachon. Suddenly, she realized she didn t have to. She could be with Vachon forever. I m coming Vachon she said gleefully as she grabbed the bottle of pills. She looked at the dosage. One Perky pill a day. Do not exceed recommended dosage. May cause insanity in others and prove fatal to user. Tracy downed the entire contents of the bottle. ------------------------------------------------------ You were suppose to help the boy, not bring him eternal damnation! Lacroix practically hissed. He held the newspaper up so that the doctor could read the obituary. I have! she responded indignantly. They are both dead. Lacroix shook the newspaper for emphasis. Together forever. Who said they were together? Do you really think that, if there is a God, such perkiness would be allowed in heaven? Hell no! Lacroix grinned at his newest daughter. I never should have underestimated you, Dr. Ruthless. The End. *************************************************************************** Only one thing is truly permanent...Forever Knight Cousinly Knightie w/NatPacker tendencies LadysAVamp@aol.com -- "Hey, who you calling a lady!?!" oboyyme@tiac.net --
