I realize that no one knows a thing about me, 'cause I don't have access to the List. Well, SUFFER!!! I'm kidding. Here's some fluff. Be warned-- it's soppy. Disney movies, chocolate Mounties and questions as to how much time I have on my hands can be sent to sleitch@lon.hookup.net to me, Meghan L. PART OF THAT WORLD by Meghan L. Nick stood in the video store, trying to look inconspicuous near the rack of Disney movies. *I shouldn't even be here,* he thought for the fifteenth time. *I mean, at most I have half an hour before sunrise, and I'm at least that far from home!...But I can't go home empty handed.* He gazed at the colourful movie boxes in front of him. For some reason, things always looked brighter when you had a Disney movie under your arm. Nick stood there for a few moments longer, then realized he was being watched. Slowly, he turned his head to the right and down. A little girl of about five stood beside him, clutching a ratty blue bear and gazing back at him with large, brown eyes. Nick smiled at her, then looked back at the boxes. "Are you getting a movie for your little girl?" a small voice asked solemnly. Nick kept his eyes glued to the racks. "I don't have a little girl," he answered just as gravely. "Oh." The girl never looked away, but her fingers played with a bright purple ribbon that was wound around the bear's ear. Nothing more was said, but Nick scanned the shelves desperately, hoping the child would lose interest. No such luck. "I like _Cinderella_," the voice ventured, "An' _Beauty an' the Beast_. Jenny likes _The Little Mermaid_." "Is Jenny your sister?" "Jenny's my bear." "Oh." Again they stood there, studying their respective points of interest. Then Nick realized something. He turned to the little girl. "Isn't it awfully early for you to be awake?" It was just a little past five thirty. The girl shook her head. "Nope. Me an' Louisa waked up early today. Louisa's my sister. Mommy got up too an' said we could go an' get some movies so we wouldn't wake Daddy up." Nick smiled. He could only imagine what it would be like to be woken up at five thirty in the morning by two rambunctious daughters. "Where's your mommy?" Before the girl could answer, a harried-looking woman rounded the corner, another little girl in tow. "Lucy! There you are!" The woman took the girl's hand and turned to Nick. "I hope she wasn't bothering you," she said, evidently assuming that all men who voluntarily stand in the Disney section can't be a threat. Nick smiled. "No, she was actually a great help." He watched them walk away, the mother scolding Lucy for disappearing. Then he pulled _Cinderella_, _Beauty and the Beast_, and _The Little Mermaid_ off the shelf and headed to the counter, humming wistfully to himself, "When you wish upon a star your dreams come true..." ************************************************************************ "All the information's in my brain, it's just in unmarked boxes."
