Queen Of The Nile By Cousin Raven (raven@naturesong.com) She stared at the colors covering the sand emanating from the purple sky. It had been so long since she'd seen anything but blackness. Her pain and hate burned within her, but still she yearned to stay here. The sand had long ago covered the towns and cities she had known, but she could still find them if she tried. To dig through the sand from dusk till dawn...searching for her lost past. So many, many years had passed, and she was bitter. How dare he lock her up in that crypt after she'd saved his life. She hadn't asked for so much. After all, they'd lived and traveled twenty years without losing each other's sight. Her skin had burned each time he'd touched her, if only in passing. The temptation had been too much. But, alas, not so for Lucius. She sighed, taking a breath of sandy, putrid air. /The smells of the city in all their vileness...still so much better than the air of the crypt. / She lazily kicked the body at her feet. /Stupid, stupid graverobber./ Slowly, maliciously, an idea took hold. /This fool might come in handy.../ She tentatively reached out through the connection she still held with Lucius. She felt him to the west. Carefully, she hefted the body on her shoulder and silently took flight. --- She makes me shudder She makes me shake At night I think and I want to take her away Rainbows are on her face Visions of tattooed chains Egyptian rain in my world A princess on her throne --- Divia landed softly on a lawn outside of Paris. She reached out again and was surprised to find Lucius was still west. She stared at the sky as it slowly darkened. It was hard to follow the turning of the earth, but even she wasn't immune to the sun. She secured the body high in a tree and scanned the area. Like a cat on the prowl, she sought any movement, any heartbeat. The wind rustled the leaves nearby, but she was concentrating on a heartbeat. It was moving slowly up the path and beating strongly. The girl was whistling to herself as she walked, her shoes clicking on the rocks and pebbles. She wore a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. Divia stared at her as if she were from another planet. She looked down at her own rags, worn even thinner from the wind. Without further hesitation, she swooped over to the girl and took her. Her blood poured into Divia, but she was careful...wouldn't want to ruin the clothes. So many new things to learn. The blood she tasted brought images...memories...language, knowledge. She drew it in happily. There was so much she had to find out before she performed the final revenge on her father...her son. --- Queen of the Nile Love me like an earthquake Queen of the Nile Please let me be your king -- Later, her new clothes clinging to her body in a way she had never felt before, she stared out at the ocean. Lucius was still west, and she had no idea how far. The sun could catch her in mid-flight. If she was cautious, she might be able to hide in the sea itself, but it was a dubious proposition. She kicked the body at her feet for the hundredth time. /Her savior,/ she supposed. /He was still a fool. Curses were created for a reason...why didn't they ever realize that?/ With a sigh, she hefted the body onto her shoulders again and took flight. "West..." she whispered. "Get ready, Lucius...I'm coming." --- Down by the quiet sea No tide of hatred call to me Queens last on through the time I hope the stars say that she's mine --- The soft lights of New Foundland greeted her. She was exhausted. The trip had taken more out of her than she'd liked. She sat at the dock and opened the connection to her son again. She turned round and round until she got a fix. He was still to the west, but to the south as well. She sighed and arranged the body more comfortably. She still had a long, long night ahead of her...she giggled to herself as she twisted the words from something she'd tasted in her recent feedings, "So many to kill...so little time." --- Mysterious, delirious, I wonder if she knows Mindtamer, magicmaker, fortuneteller of long ago --- She landed with a soft thud on the roof of the Raven. This was it. The end of the line, so to speak. She dropped the body carefully on the roof and scanned below. A girl was coming out of the club, holding her leather jacket swinging behind her. It was just too inviting. "Hey!" the girl said when her jacket was unceremoniously ripped out of her hand. She turned to accost the perpetrator, but was stopped by a mouth full of fangs. "Try it." Divia said evilly. The girl took off at a dead run. Briefly, Divia considered going after her, but dismissed it. She had things to do...relatives to kill. Suddenly, she felt Lucius coming quite quickly. His steps seemed to echo in her mind. Just in time, she took flight onto the roof. Lucius came out and stared around. /He'd felt her. Damn. But it was rather inevitable at the end. After all, it was his fault she suffered all those years...while he'd lived free and well. As he stalked off, she smiled and rolled the body over onto it's stomach. She took the machete from his belt and smiled. It was time to begin. --- Queen of the Nile I dream all over you Save me from all I fear My pyramids they wait for you --- ================== Queen of the Nile Album : Dangerous Toys Words by : J.
