Disclaimers at the end. **WARNING Fluff straight ahead.** ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A Space Age Solution . . . (1/1) by Cj http//members.tripod.com/~EngrCj (c) June 1998 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Natalie, read this."  Nick handed her a sheet of paper that he had printed up from his email moments earlier. "You think that it's possible for them to do it for me?" He asked after she was finished reading. "I don't see why they wouldn't do it for you."  She answered honestly, "After all, your illness *is* related to an allergy caused by sunlight."  She looked at him straight on.  "Of course, you are going to have to make an appointment with them." He nodded. "And there will be tests."  She poked him in the chest.  "Tests even tougher than mine." "I know. . . but if there's a remote chance of this working.  Just think of it.  A solution to part of my problem."  Nick's eyes glazed over as he counted the chickens before they were hatched. Natalie thought about it for about two seconds before saying, "So, when are you leaving for Texas?" *******several months later******** Detective Schanke grabbed his phone on the first ring. "This better not be you Knight . . ." Schanke warned the caller. "Schanke?"  (cough, cough) "I'm feeling a little under the weather.  If you could cover for me that'd be great.  Thanks a lot partner." Schanke muttered under his breath that he would kill Nick the next time he saw him. At the beach, a man in a space suit and a woman were enjoying the day together in the sunlight. And Nick would never need to worry about being burned by the sunlight.  But, about that blood craving . . . Disclaimer The characters don't belong to me and the idea of a space suit wasn't mine.  Just the combination of the two were.  Please don't archive without my permission. This little piece of fluff was inspired by an email I got from NASA news.  Below are snippets from that email. If you are interested in reading the entire announcement, email me privately and I'll send you a copy. It's truly amazing what technology can do to improve the lives of those who wish to be normal. **Like an astronaut setting foot on a new world, a six-year-old Virginia Beach, VA, boy can explore Earth during daylight for the first time, thanks to new NASA space suit technology. On April 19, Mikie Walker became the first American child to receive a modified "space suit" that protects him from the sun's ultraviolet rays and other light sources.  Mikie has porphryia, a genetic disorder that causes extreme and potentially dangerous sunlight sensitivity that can result in chronic skin inflammation, blistering, inflammation of nerves, abdominal pain and other disturbances.  For some children with light sensitivity disorders, even a 40-watt light bulb can be dangerous. . . .
