good and wanted to share it with you all.  It's by Saundra

i can't remember her name 
that first companion with whom 
i chose to spend eternity 
for  i spurned her out of hand 
she was too common 
    nor the name of the 
next; he seemed perfect but 
failed me with a bloodlust 
stronger than my own 
     nor the next who mewled like an unfed 
kitten, whining 
for the convenience of day 
who yearned to count time 
by the sunrise again 
defying the dreadful 
beauty of the night 
     i've since learned not to play with 
my food.
