Well, that's not exactly true. If they'd used a model NiQ112095 SuperHertz Converter, it would have worked fine. The problem is that the van we saw would not have held a converter that size--let alone with room for all the other stuff they had crammed in there. It looked like they were using a FTTP1066 model, and Reese is right--there's no way that would be strong enough to override the regular signal. Of course, even if they'd had them using a NiQ112095, thye couldn't have just picked that up at the corner store. They don'e even sell those in Canada (I checked) so they would have had to special-order it...by the time they were ready the war would have been over anyway. What I said was that I think they should have more Scottie (and more Scottie in lingere! :) > I think it really should be an ensemble War...and that's one of the But it's *not* an ensemble show. Scottie's deep angst over fr*gs is the basis of all the wars. Without that there wouldn't even *be* a Real Life! But they seem to be moving away from that and spending too much time on Torrey and that PartlyK! Scottie's angst over fr*gs was the thing that started wars in the first place, and if she ever wavered even slightly in that angst it would destroy the whole show. But all we've been seeing recently is Sharon trying to get her over her phobia and horrid people like Candice and Deborah just _throwing_ them in her face! (And I just *hate* that Deborah!...but I wouldn't mind seeing her in a couple of lingere scenes... :) Alma, Forever Froggie alma@raven.com ************************************************************ -------------- Information from the mail header ----------------- Sender: Real Life TV show - Spoiler Topic List Poster: Felix Twist Subject: Spoilers: NiQ ------------------------------------------------------------- Someone asked if the Merc rescue team really could have taken out the CERK signal with what they had in their van there. Actually, they could. One of the interesting things about high-powered radio equipment is that it has continued to grow larger without becoming significantly more powerful. Guglielmo Marconi's radio of 1902 essentially embodied the basics involved in any radio used today--all that's been added are more bells and whistles. (Frankly, they could have done a nice flashback to that time period!) According to the Hyper Index of Technobabble Guide, adding boosters is probably the simplest modification of all. Now it's true that a NiQ112095 SuperHertz Converter probably would not have fit in that van, but they didn't have to be using a FTTP1066 model either. (And no, those aren't currently sold in Canada, but they were prior to 1966 and many of the older units are still around.) The HIT Guide indicates that there's no reason why--assuming the level of technical expertise we're accepting for the whole rescue bit--the Mercs couldn't have taken an old FTTP1066, retrofit it with some of the nifty boosters you'd find in a NiQ112095 and fit it all into the casing of a LU79AD.
