Renee's piece just begged me to write a follow-up piece. So you should read Renee's piece first before mine in order to arrive at the point that I'm starting at. A note to all nitpickers of fic, this is the very first piece I've ever posted to the Fic loop. I readily admit I am a poor writer. I have many great ideas for fiction but do not have the talent to adequately transcribe the stories in my head into a readable flowing piece of fictionon paper. Please keep this in mind when reading the following. I welcome all comments and writing advice at Javiette@aol.com I do not own any of the Forever Knight characters in the following story. Permission to be archived at Mel's FanFic page and, I guess, anywhere else if someone thinks it is worth archiving. So, here it goes: You Never Close Your Eyes Rae Plachecki Part 1 of 1 1-2-1999 Nick and Vachon stood outside of the Raven staring at the door. "Nick, what just happened?" Vachon turned to Nick with a bewildered look on his face. "I think the ladies feel we've been neglecting them lately. We should really do something about this before it goes too far." Nick replied. "Well, I suppose we could fight fire with fire." Vachon raised a hand to his chin and looked at the door thoughtfully. "What do you propose Vachon?" Nick moved next to him, looking back and forth between Vachon and the door. A few whispers later and Nick had a smile on his face. "Do you think it will work?" "You saw them Nick, it's now or never. Now...see if you can get LaCroix to set it up for us." Nick concentrated on the blood link with LaCroix, putting through a special request. The guys slipped in the door and watched as LaCroix, with a disgusted look on his face, stepped over to the heinous karoke machine and punched in Nick's request. As the music starts up, Natalie and Tracy stop in mid-conversation and look around to see who was singing next. "You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips." Nick and Vachon both reach over and pluck a red rose from the vase on the bar. "And there's no tenderness like before in your fingertips." As Tracy and Natalie turn around on their barstools, their mouths drop open when they see who's singing. "You're trying hard not to show it, baby." Nick and Vachon get down on one knee in front of Natalie and Tracy. "But baby, baby I know it. You've lost that lovin' feeling, whoa, that lovin' feeling. You've lost that lovin' feeling, now it's gone...gone...gone...woooooah." The guys get to their feet and move to stand next to the ladies. In the background, a few of the bar regulars get in a line and start singing backup. Nick cups Natalies chin in his hand and turns her face towards his. "Now there's no welcome look in your eyes when I reach for you." Vachon leans back on the bar and spins Tracy around to face him. "And now you're starting to criticize little things I do." Vachon casts a pointed look at his jacket, still in a crumpled heap on the floor. "It makes me just feel like crying, baby. 'Cause baby, something beautiful's dying." The guys move back around to face their ladies. "You lost that lovin' feeling, whoa, that lovin' feeling. You've lost that lovin' feeling, now it's gone...gone...gone...woooooah." They drop to their knees as Vachon sings... "Tracy, Tracy, I get down on my knees for you. If you would only love me like you used to do." Nick throws open his arms ... "We had a love...a love...a love you don't find everyday. So don't...don't...don't...don't let it slip away." Tracy and Natalie exchange an embarrassed smile as the guys hand them the roses. "I said baby" (Nick) "Tracy" (Vachon) "Baby" (Nick) "Tracy" (Vachon) "I beg of you please" (Nick) "Please" (Vachon) "Please" (Nick) "Please" (Vachon) "I need your love" (Nick) "I need your love" (Vachon) "I need your love" (Nick) "I need your love" (Vachon) "So bring it on back" (Nick) "So bring it on back" (Vachon) "Bring it on back" (Nick) "Oh bring it on back. You've got to..." (Vachon) Nick and Vachon grab Natalie and Tracy off their barstools and pull them close to dance. Their voices drop to whispers... "Bring back that lovin' feeling, whoa that lovin' feeling. Bring back that lovin' feeling 'cause it's gone...gone...gone, and I can't go on, noooo....." The music swells as the two couples spin around the dance floor. Vachon reaches down and snaps up his jacket before it gets stepped on (again). As the bar patrons look on with goofy romantic expressions, LaCroix makes a disgusted snort in the back of the room, turns, and heads to the broadcast booth. The music dies out and a loud cheer goes up from the crowd of onlookers. Natalie and Tracy exchange satisfied looks, wink at each other, and turn back to their dance partners for another spin around the floor. Faintly in the background, LaCroix starts his evening monologue... "Love. How it toys with us. Makes utter fools of us..." Fine
